Overview: When conditions are right it can be epic mirror flat freestyle conditions and a risk free intermediate practicing ground. It’s best just before and after high tide when the horseshoe shaped sandbanks becomes exposed and the water goes totally flat on both tacks in a westerly, but beware it is shallow and there are rocks so be wary or your fin or nose if you’re doing freestyle. In a north westerly sail upwind to the old oyster bed and walk over the wall, inside it is deep and totally flat on both tacks.
Suitable for: All Levels
Best Wind Directions: S through to N. Best on W and NW.
Tides: Able to sail two hours either side of high tide, dries out at low tide
Locals Knowledge/Warnings: On a NW go in the oyster bed around high tide for total freestyle perfection. Eat your heart out Dahab! S-W-N for intermediates, at high tide, it’s the place to go. No questions.
